Market logs 5th straight gains on economic recovery hopes

Benchmark indices continued their winning run for the fifth straight session on Tuesday as staggered opening of the economy and the prime minister assuring of more support to the industry restored investor confidence. Shrugging off ratings downgrade by Moody’s, the 30-share BSE Sensex soared 522.01 points or 1.57 per cent to settle at 33,825.53. Likewise, the NSE Nifty jumped 152.95 points or 1.56 per cent to 9,979.10. Indian stocks also tracked positive Asian peers to strengthen gains.
