More than a thousand firefighters took part in the firefighting operation on Monday, including specially trained climbers to reach hard-to-reach firefighting centres. They were supported from the air by five planes and 18 helicopters, including German and Slovak helicopters.

The Polish relief group ended its activities in Czech Switzerland on Saturday. On Sunday, the S-70i Black Hawk helicopter returned to the country.
In five days, Polish firefighters and police carried out 16 flights, passing 39 in the air hours. They made 489 drops using the suspended Bambi Bucket – a total of almost 1.5 thousand tons of water.

The Bohemian Switzerland National Park fire is the largest forest fire in the history of the Czech Republic. The fire was first noticed on Sunday July 24. In the following days, the fire spread to the forest on the German side of the border. Units from all over the country were brought to the Hrzensk region in northwest Bohemia for the firefighting operation.
