Acceptance of the Polish KPO challenged before the CJEU

The amendment to the law on the Supreme Court entered into force on July 15 this year. His draft was sent to the Sejm by President Andrzej Duda. As reported by the Chancellery of the President, the main purpose of the changes was to ensure the effective disciplinary liability of judges and representatives of the professions of public trust indicated in the law, carried out in proceedings before the Supreme Court.

The changes to the Supreme Court were expected by the European Commission, which had reservations about the reform of the judicial system in Poland. Among other things, he made the approval of the Polish National Housing Plan and the disbursement of funds from the Reconstruction Fund dependent on the liquidation of the Disciplinary Chamber.

KPO is 22.5 billion euros in grants and 12.1 billion euros in cheap loans, and the government could ask Brussels for the remaining 22 billion in loans to which Poland is entitled by 2023 at the latest. conditions – it could get around €2.8 billion in subsidies already in the third quarter of this year, and €3 billion and €2 billion in the first and third quarters of 2023, respectively.
