The Ukrainian Armed Forces liquidated a group of Wagnerists. Their actions “failed”
“Once again, during the steady and courageous positioning on one of the front lines, through coordination and training, our brigade personnel completely eliminated the mercenary group ‘Wagner'”, wrote the soldiers of the 58th separate brigade. Their actions “came to nothing” – they added. “Once again we remind the enemy that only death awaits uninvited guests here” – summarize the armed forces in the entrance.
As announced on Monday July 18 Reuters Agency, mercenaries from the Wagner Group are sent to the front in Ukraine to reinforce line troops and replenish losses. The UK Ministry of Defense said a private mercenary company had lowered standards by recruiting detainees and people who had previously been blacklisted. According to the intelligence services, lower expectations of recruits and reduced training will negatively affect their combat value and their relationship with the regular armed forces.
Wagnerians played a key role in recent battles, including the capture of Popasna and Lisiczańska – recalls Ukrainian truth. However, the fighting brought them great losses.
Wagner’s group. What is it and what does it do?
The Wagner Group is a private Russian military company. Its owner – according to the media – is the oligarch Yevgeny Prigozhin, a trusted associate of Vladimir Putin. Unofficially, the group acts as the “long arm” of the Kremlin and is sent to conflict zones where Russia is theoretically not involved.
Since mid-December 2021, the Wagnerists have been subject to EU sanctions in connection with the torture, executions and murders they use, including in Libya, Syria and Donbass.
