New Olympic Class

IQFoil is a new sailing class that will replace RS:X at the Paris Olympics in 2024. In May this year the Italian Championships were held in Torbole, the Poles still unsuccessful.

– This will be my second iQFoil regatta, I’m just gaining experience. After the Olympics, I took a break to rest and reorganize my sporting life, and only recently started swimming in a new class – said Piotr Myszka, sailor AZS AWFiS Gdańsk, multiple World and European championship medalist in the RS:X class, who finished the Torbole regatta in a distant 89th place.

Radosław Furmański (AZS AWFIS Gdańsk) was then the highest ranked among the Poles – in 15th position.

From August 21 to 28 in Silvaplan, Switzerland, the iQFoil Windsurfing Class Junior and Junior World Championships took place. Nearly 250 players took part, including no less than 26 players from the Polish national team.

In the under-17 category, he was very close to the podium Igor Lewinsky (Gdańsk Sailing Club), which entered the medal race from second place. In the Medal Race he did well, he finished fifth, but the most dangerous rivals were ahead of him. In the end, the young sailor from Gdańsk took fifth place.

In Silvaplan there were also competitions for the under 15s. Among boys, under 14 was a strong swimmer Gustave Trybek (Sopot Sailing Club), which won a bronze medal. The best in this age category was Artun Senol from Turkey and the second was Frenchman Kylian Manhavel.

Gustaw represents the club from Sopot, ale is from Gdańsk (born October 13, 2008), still lives in Gdańsk, since the beginning of his studies he studies at primary school No. 81 in Gdańsk Osów. On September 1, he entered eighth grade.

This year Gustaw also won the Polish championship silver medal in the FWF (Formula Windsurfing Foil) category on the 7.0 U17 sail at the National Youth Olympics in Puck and the Polish championship silver medal long distance in the FWF (Formula Windsurfing Foil) class on the 7.0 U17 15 sail.
