Arkadiusz Mularczyk (PiS) is continuing meetings this week on Polish claims against Germany for reparations. As he informed, he meets with representatives of the political groups of the ZP of the Council of Europe, presenting them with the report on the losses suffered by Poland during the Second World War.

Due to the current session of the Council of Europe, I have scheduled a whole series of meetings on the issue of war and reparations for Poland. I had a meeting with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejczinović Burić, then I started to meet the leaders of the political groups of the Council of Europe

– Mularczyk told PAP.

There are five of these groups; I met the representative of the ALDE group, Iulian Bulai, as well as the president of the left group, Giorgios Katrouglakos from Greece, I also meet the leader of the European People’s Party (EPP) at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe , Aleksander Pociej, I will meet tomorrow – because, surprisingly, he agreed to this meeting – the leader of the Socialists, Frank Schwabe; I will also have a meeting with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Tiny Cox, and the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of RE Despina Chatzivasiliou-Tsovilisi

– he announced.

Purpose of meetings

As he noted, “the purpose of all these meetings is to inform about the report on Polish losses prepared in Poland, the resolution adopted and the diplomatic note sent”.

I try to present our position by saying that Poland has never received damages or reparations, and has never waived them, and to emphasize that this is a universal subject , and not only between Poland and Germany, that it is about respect for the rule of law by the Germans

He explained.

According to Mularczyk, the position of the Polish government conveyed by him “responds to a great understanding of our position and our interests”.

I think that in the months to come, we will work on a certain formula of international cooperation, there is room there for joint action. However, it is too early to go into details here.

said the politician. He stressed that for now he intended to present the Polish position and arguments and “make it clear for him”.

Report layout effect

At the beginning of October, Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau signed a diplomatic note on war reparations addressed to the German side. Earlier, on September 1, a report was presented on the losses suffered by Poland as a result of German aggression and occupation during World War II. They were estimated at 6 billion 220 billion 609 million PLN.

Head of the German Foreign Ministry Annalena Baerbock, referring to the note on reparations issued by Poland, said during her visit to Warsaw that “the question of reparations from the point of view of the federal government is closed”.
