The Pole will perform in the WTA Finals tournament as the best player of the current season. It’s no surprise, but with the promotion to the tournament and the announcement of the tennis schedule for the next few months, a problem has arisen. The decisive match will take place on November 7, and on November 8 the final tournament of the Billie Jean King Cup in Glasgow will begin, in which the Polish representatives will participate.
The leader of the ranking does not want to miss any of the prestigious competitions, so she plans to play both tournaments. The problem was logistics. Difficult to guarantee that she will be able to move quickly from the United States, where the WTA finals will be played, to Scotland to play her game under the national colors. Now, however, there has been a significant change.

The authorities of the ITF (International Tennis Federation) have given their agreement to postpone the matches of the national team, which will have their representatives in the decisive phases of the WTA finals. The aforementioned teams are due to play their matches a day later on November 9. It’s a very important change that could allow Iga Świątek to rest for a while and fly to Scotland.
The reason for this decision is of course to allow the players to recover and not to force them to give up one of the tournaments. Needless to say, the Poles without Iga Świątek are “on paper” a much weaker team who could fight for completely different goals.
The WTA Finals competition will begin on October 31 in Texas. At the moment only Iga Świątek and Ons Jabeur, finalists from Wimbledon and this year’s US Open, are sure to perform in the tournament.
