F1. Sebastian Vettel will miss F1

Sebastian Vettel scored a point in his final Formula 1 race but Aston Martin failed to overtake Alfa Romeo in the constructors’ championship. The German was interviewed by Jenson Button shortly after crossing the finish line at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

– You know what it is. I would have liked a few more points, but yes, I enjoyed the race. Today, the warm-up before the start was a little different, but when the lights go out, race mode is in full swing. Of course, we probably didn’t choose the best strategy, so that’s a shame because I think we could have moved up in the constructors’ championship. All in all, it was a great day. Many thanks for all the support, flags and smiling faces. It was very unique and enjoyable. Well, I guess I’m going to miss it more than I thought,” Vettel admitted.

Sebastian Vettel ends his Formula 1 career with four championship titles to his credit. The German has won 53 races and been on the podium 122 times. It was certainly one of the most spectacular careers in the history of sport.

– I don’t have much to say. Honestly, I feel a bit empty. I think the last two years have been disappointing from a sporting point of view, but very useful and important for me in life. A lot of things happened. I think it’s a great privilege to be in the position that we find ourselves in, and it comes with a certain responsibility. So I hope to pass something on to the other drivers so that they can continue their good work.”

Everything indicates that Vettel will now take a break from all major sporting activity. Some, including Lewis Hamilton, think Sebastian won’t last long in retirement.

“It’s great to see that we have the power to inspire what we do and what we say. So I think there are much bigger and more important things than racing. But of course that’s what we love, and if that can convey some of the really important values, then that’s important. I think the last two years have been great for me in that regard. So thank you for your support. Thank you for your messages, letters and generally all the love. So yes, I will miss it. But it has been an absolute joy throughout my career. Thank you,” concluded Vettel.
