The port of Gdansk is the fastest growing port in Europe over the last decade, with a growth rate of 110%. Modern transhipment terminals, an efficient port access infrastructure and a rich network of maritime connections make the port of Gdansk strengthen its position on the Baltic Sea year after year. According to the ranking of the largest Baltic ports, it takes second place in terms of total transshipments. But in terms of container turnover, it is an undisputed leader.
Our advantage is also the fact that we are a universal, unlimited, ice-free and deep-water port. The harbor basins are up to 17 m deep, which makes it possible to receive the largest container ships in the world and the largest bulk carriers entering the Baltic Sea – Explain Lukasz Greinke, Chairman of the Port of Gdansk. – The task of the Port Authority is to create opportunities. We do too. If the area is clean, well developed and communicated, there will be an investor. At the port of Gdansk we still have more than 100 hectares where investments can be made.
PGA SA focuses on development and cooperation. This is why it implements investments of several million. Key to the operation of the Inner Port was “the modernization of the channel, the enlargement of the quays and the improvement of navigation conditions”, which allowed the introduction of even larger ships into the port. This long-term investment, completed in the middle of this year, covered quays with a total length of approximately 5 km and a channel of 7 km. Thanks to the modernization of the channel, the permissible draft of ships entering the inner harbor has increased.
