On Monday, the Center for Government Legislation published a draft amendment to the Regulation of the Minister of Interior and Administration, which currently limits the possibility of arrivals and arrivals in Poland from Russia and Belarus to certain categories of travelers (Polish citizens, transport drivers, diplomats, participants in certain cultural and sports competitions and others).
“Today I signed a regulation tightening restrictions on entry into Poland of Russian citizens. This is the result of joint arrangements between Poland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia. Only broad and severe sanctions can decisively hit Putin’s regime– wrote Mariusz Kamiński, Minister of Interior and Administration.
Regulations for citizens of the Russian Federation need to be tightened. “We limit tourist and business traffic, as well as traffic related to culture and sportsDeputy Interior and Administration Minister Bartosz Grodecki told PAP on Monday.
According to the draft, Russians traveling for such purposes will not be able to come to Poland from outside the EU border. Bartosz Grodecki stressed that the restrictions will apply to Russians at all border crossings, and from September 26 also at airports and seaports.
The new restrictions do not mean a complete entry ban for Russians. The exceptions remain in effect, which were agreed by Poland and the Baltic States and aim, among other things, at continued support for opponents of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Among the exceptions are dissidents, humanitarian cases, as well as holders of residence permits, transport drivers and members of diplomatic missions.
