Investigators’ interest in Marek M., the creator of the MarcPol network, lasts for many years. “The Toruń District Prosecutor’s Office took the decision to present charges to Marek M. more than a year ago, but for many months he did not read them to him, because the businessman failed to show up for subsequent calls, citing sick leave. Who is Marek M.?
Years ago, Marek M. was at the forefront of wealthy Poles. In 2010, the weekly “Wprost” valued its assets at PLN 3.9 billion. He took fourth place in the standings and was only passed by: Jan Kulczyk, Zygmunt Solorz and Leszek Czarnecki.
It is mainly associated with the MarcPol network. Stores under this banner operated from 1988 to 2016. According to Wikipedia, this company was the first in Eastern Europe to receive the distribution rights for Lacoste clothing. In Warsaw, ul. Marszałkowska, then the first private store of foreign currency and gold in Poland, was opened, with the possibility of currency exchange.
M. stayed in business even after the problems at MarcPol. Its portfolio also includes the Hit shopping center in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki. In 2018, the transfer of PLN 0.5 million to the gallery to his wife aroused the interest of the prosecutor’s office.
