The problem of garbage in public spaces
On Sunday May 22, special collection points will be waiting for participants in seven districts: Matarnia, Wzgórze Mickiewicza, as well as the priority coastal area in this edition of the action: Nowy Port, Brzeźno, Żabianka (Jelitkowo), Przymorze Wielkie, Stogui .
As announced by the organizers of the Municipal Management Department of the Municipal Office, they also do not forget the Baltic island of Sobieszewo, which will devote a lot of attention in the “school” version. By definition, the initiative is open to integrating as many locations as possible in Gdańsk. Especially since the need for action is great.
– The problem of garbage in public spaces and illegal landfills is one of the greatest ecological challenges of the modern world. Of course, we undertake much broader and more systemic activities than just “cleaning up”. Nevertheless, it has great educational and integrative value for our community. Together we take responsibility for the fate of our city, including the state of the environment and the quality of life of residents – says Olga Goitowska, deputy director of the municipal management department at the municipal office.
Clean up the world 2.0 in Gdańsk. Four views of the action this year
Good for the environment and the city
This year, Clean Up the World has adopted a very elaborate formula, as it takes place on several occasions and aims to integrate and support as many bottom-up initiatives as possible.
– We are building a green community and the scale effect. We want to join forces with all people who care about the good of the environment and our city. Hence the number of initiatives dedicated to various groups and places. From canoeists, divers, to families, schools, businesses and organizations willing to work through employee volunteering. The Communes were heavily involved in this edition. We would like to warmly thank everyone – explains Piotr Grzelak, deputy mayor responsible for sustainable development.
