The Germans do not want to dialogue

“I sent 50 notes to the countries of the Council of Europe, NATO and the European Union, but also to other important countries from our point of view; we informed about the premises of the diplomatic note to Germany resulting from our claims for damages against the German state,” Deputy Foreign Minister Arkadiusz Mularczyk said in the “Jedziemy” program on TVP Info.

We believe that our main partners should know what the premises of the diplomatic note were. We refer the heads of diplomacy of these countries to the report

said Mularczyk.

The Deputy Foreign Minister also said that he had obliged the Polish ambassadors residing in the countries which had received the notes to “accompany him to the relevant ministries and to inform the foreign partners of the basis of the Polish claims for reparations”. .

We believe it is very important that an international discussion takes place, both in bilateral relations and in international organizations, on the right to compensation not only of Poland, but also of the countries that have suffered the aftermath of the Second World War, and at the same time following the division of the world after the Potsdam conference between the Western world and the world separated by the Iron Curtain

he underlined.

Germany avoids the subject of reparations

He also noted that “many countries like Poland have never received compensation, but the citizens of these countries have also been affected.”

In this note, I point out the lack of a legal route for the victims, the unequal treatment of different countries and different nations by the Germans, I also point out the fact that the Germans do not feel responsible in any way and do not want to enter into a dialogue

– said Arkadiusz Mularczyk.

As he noted, “it is very important from the point of view of certain knowledge that should be in Europe and in the world on our claims and our premises”.

It is also an element of certain pressure that Germany should feel, given this issue, because one can have the impression that the German state is trying to protect its country, its public opinion, from this knowledge

– explained the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to him, in Germany “there is de facto no debate or discussion around this diplomatic note”.

There are also few publications in the press, television publications on the report and the diplomatic note. So one gets the impression that the Germans deliberately protect their country from this knowledge

he said.

The key is in fact the pressure of international opinion.”

Arkadiusz Mularczyk also stressed that “the purpose of these notes was to show that the matter is serious”.

Poland is serious about this issue and it is not the aim, as the opposition, Mr. Tusk or others claim, that it is an election campaign issue in Poland, because it is a matter of reason Polish state

he said.

The deputy head of the Foreign Ministry assured that further discussions would take place in the coming weeks and months.

We work very regularly and systematically on this issue; I’m optimistic we just need to break the lack of confidence in Europe and around the world that this issue can be regulated

he noted.

The key is actually pressure from international opinion and public opinion in Germany for Germany to sit down with Poland and other concerned environments around the table and systemically regulate it

Mularczyk added.
