World Cup 2022: the perfect time to play football
This year, the FIFA World Cup is taking place at an unusual time. All because the hosts were Qataris. In an atmosphere of scandals, this country was chosen to host the championships. Due to FIFA’s decision, this tournament could not be held in the summer, as it would be too hot in Qatar and such a championship would be very difficult to hold. At the beginning of November and December in Qatar, the highest temperature is 24 degrees, and the lowest is 19 degrees. Weather-wise, it’s the perfect time to play outdoor matches.
World Cup in Qatar: a World Cup overshadowed by death and scandal
The awarding of the championship to Qatar sparked great controversy from the day of FIFA’s decision. After a few years, the first information appeared that corrupt machinations could be behind the choice of this country. Over time, the controversies have only multiplied and to this day arouse great indignation in many football circles. But that’s not the only problem with the Qatar World Cup. Huge scandals erupted during the construction of the stadiums and all the infrastructure, for which the country spent around 220 billion dollars. (like the “Deccan Herald” once calculated). Well, during the works, hundreds of people died without adequate protection and without guarantees of protection.
Moreover, the deaths of people did not infuriate FIFA officials enough to intervene. The world has also put this tragedy on the agenda.
World Cup in Qatar: who has the best chance of winning the championship?
Hopefully, all these championships, even during the tournament, will give people positive feelings and memories, because the Qataris, instead of delighting, at least arouse reluctance.
From a purely footballing point of view, the upcoming tournament promises to be very interesting. The main favorites to win the 2022 World Cup are traditionally Brazil, Argentina, France and Spain. This group is joined by Portuguese, Dutch and English. In the case of the Polish national team, getting out of the group is a big success. In it, the Biało-Czerwoni played with Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Argentina. The Poles drew with Mexico in the first scoreless game. On Saturday 26 November, the team managed by Czesław Michniewicz beat Saudi Arabia 2:0. The goals for the Whites and Reds were scored by Piotr Zieliński and Robert Lewandowski, for whom it was the first goal of the World Cup. On Wednesday November 30, Poland played a promotion match with Argentina. Biało-Czerwoni lost 0:2, but qualified for the knockout stage. In the next match, Poland played against France. Our representatives played bravely and certainly better than in the group matches, but they succumbed to the French team 1:3.
The final phase of the 1/8 finals of the World Cup in Qatar ended, and on Friday, December 9, the first two matches of the quarter-finals began. Croatia played against Brazil, while the Netherlands played against Argentina. The next day there were matches between Morocco – Portugal and France – England. Finally, the teams of France and Argentina qualified for the final. Croatia – Morocco played for 3rd place. The European team won 2-1.
