St. Lt. Łukasz Tarapacki of the 5th Podhale Rifle Battalion from Przemyśl and Cap. Tomasz Wąsacz from the 21st Logistics Battalion in Rzeszów, performing in the representation of the chefs of the Polish army, won the bronze medal at the Culinary World Cup 2022 in Luxembourg.
The Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg started on November 27. Polish soldiers launched a culinary competition with teams from around the world in the Community Catering category.
This competition consisted in preparing lunch for 120 people in the form of catering – informs the Representation of the Chiefs of the Polish Army.
– The competition day started very early for us, at three o’clock in the morning. TO. 5:30 am, we had to check in at the box. Our biggest enemy was time and stress, but within minutes we got our nerves under control and by 11:30 a.m. we were ready to spend – recalls Sgt. Radosław Irzemski, one of the team members.
He added that the menu based on traditional Polish cuisine with the use of the best Polish ingredients was a plus.
– International judges and consumers were captivated by the taste of our dishes, which allowed us to obtain a bronze medal – recalls Sgt. Piotr Welter, captain of the Polish national team.
At this year’s championships, the chefs prepared:
- sour buttermilk soup with white pudding, quail egg and horseradish dumplings,
- Pork tenderloin breaded with pesto and Burgundy sauce.
On the plates submitted for evaluation, it is indicated:
- cabbage roll stuffed with peas and sauerkraut,
- mushroom potato pancake,
- pancakes with caper puree and raisins,
- vegan ravioli with mushrooms, lentils and vegetables,
- oyster mushroom sauce,
- roasted parsley with thyme,
- root vegetable puree,
- Romaine lettuce with fennel, celery, chickpeas, cashews, pickled onion and peanut sauce.
The competition menu ended with a dessert:
- goat cheesecake with pumpkin seed oil,
- beet, cherry and ginger sorbet,
- roasted whipped white chocolate.
The Polish representation took third place and won the bronze medal.
