Police entered the Pepeland amusement park in Dziekanów Nowy near Łomianki. It turned out that the animals kept there lived in appalling conditions. The services took away 24 horses, 2 donkeys, about 10 goats, 2 llamas and a macaque monkey. The animals were given starvation rations and were neglected. Thanks to anonymous informants, they managed to save them from the coming winter.

The municipal office in Łomianki learned about animal abuse in the amusement park through complaints received, probably also from employees of this center. Yesterday an inspection was carried out there, during which the owners of Pepeland were absent. The services only found 2 employees on site.

Yesterday police officers from Łomianki assisted the poviat veterinarian who, together with city officials, checked the health of the animals on the property. The doctor made the decision to remove these animals. Police officers at the site conducted procedural activities, collected evidence, received an animal abuse notification and conducted an inspection – said the spokeswoman of the Poviat police headquarters in Stare Babice, subinsp. Ewelina Gromek-Oćwieja.

Terrible conditions for animals in the amusement park

The Pepeland amusement park in Dziekanów Nowy in Mazovia hosted 24 horses, 2 donkeys, about 10 goats, 2 llamas and a macaque monkey. The animals were taken from there. As the veterinarian who was there told Radio Kolor, they lived in terrible conditions and were very neglected.

We found quite serious shortcomings and gross negligence in the feeding and maintenance of these animals. After consulting the ladies of the Łominaki municipal office, the police and the municipal guard, we decided to write a request to the mayor as a veterinary inspection to collect these animals. – said veterinarian Dariusz Malewski.

Owners of abused animals?

One of the horses had laminitis, which is an acute, diffuse inflammation of the hoof material covering the hoof bone. As a result, the police opened an investigation into the case. The police also have to deal with Macaque, which must be sent to the Warsaw Zoo. Doctors suspect the owners of mistreating the animals.

The horses were emaciated, without zootechnical care. From there we saw the horses standing in the pasture. If all the hay was collected from those pastures, that is, for those dozens of horses, maybe one of them could eat enough. Starvation rations, otherwise neglected in terms of hygiene. Anyway, it didn’t look good – added Dariusz Malewski.

By decision of the doctor, 2 animals were taken in emergency by the veterinary ambulance. The rest will be handled by the officials. Yesterday, the police conducted an interrogation in this case. No one has yet been charged.
