“While I was at my best during the off-season, II injured myself by making a wrong move during a workout.t” to a muscle in the right leg, the 19-year-old player explains on his Twitter account. And to add: “I had worked very hard to reach my best level in Australia”.
“It’s a tough time to get through, but I need to stay optimistic, recover and look ahead. We will meet in 2024 Australian Open“, he concludes.
Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest world No. 1 since the ATP rankings were established in 1973, winning at the US Open, his first Grand Slam tournament, last September at the age of 19. He became the youngest player in history a few months later to finish the year at the top of the world hierarchy.
