World Cup 2022. Leo Messi has been named the best player in the Qatar World Cup. The Argentine scored seven goals en route to the gold, including two in the grand final. He also registered three assists. He is the only footballer in history to have won two awards; the best was earlier in 2014 when Argentina lost the final against Germany.
On his way to the statuette, Messi decided to kiss the World Cup trophy. After all, this is his first and only victory in five final tournaments.

Frenchman Kylian Mbappé was the top scorer at the World Cup. Messi’s PSG teammate has scored eight goals. He scored his hat-trick in the final (he also used his eleven on penalties).
The other prizes went to the Argentines. The Best Young Player award went to central midfielder Enzo Fernandez. The statuette of the best goalkeeper was recovered by Emiliano Martinez.
After the individual awards, Messi approached FIFA President Gianni Infantino for the top prize. – Argentina, you make your dreams come true with Messi. You are the best team in the world for the third time! – Dariusz Szpakowski was emotional.
In four years, Argentina will defend their title at the World Cup hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States. Messi will watch his teammates fight on TV or from the stands.
