At the World Economic Forum in Davos, FBI chief Christopher Wray expressed concern about China’s artificial intelligence program.
His feelings stem from the fact that if left unchecked, Beijing could use AI to carry out more hacking, intellectual property theft or repression operations against, for example, the Uyghur minority discriminated against by China.
“It’s something that we (US – editor’s note) are concerned about, and I think everyone here should be too,” said Christopher Wray, quoted by “Independent”.
The FBI chief’s statement referred to findings from the Special Competitive Studies Project’s September report, which warned the United States against China.
He noted that Americans could lose the global tech race with Beijing if they don’t actively act in three key areas: microelectronics, 5G and artificial intelligence.
