Poland as “the best place in the world”. Is Bartosiak right?

Two books on geopolitics and strategy have recently been published, the titles of which convey a seemingly paradoxical message. Firstly, as Poles we live in the best place in the world. Second, we are alone in this place. I mean books “The best place in the world. Where East Collides with West” by Jacek Bartosiak (the author’s activity has been the subject of controversy due to the way he used the sources, but it was provoked by other publications, and I take no position on this issue) and “Poland’s strategic solitude” by Marek Budzisz. How to understand this message?

The place deserves consideration

The concept of place belongs to those categories that we use automatically. Note, however, that we consider some places ours and others not; that they respond better or less well to our needs and our abilities; that they constitute a better or less well organized space in which we try to achieve something. Everything goes beyond topography. When we talk about a place, we are de facto referring to something that determines success in achieving our goals – everyday ones, like an efficient commute to work, as well as “broader” life goals. “. So if our state is not only an entity in the sense of international law, but also our place of life (the Germans have a nice term for this, “Lebenswelt”), a space that allows (or prevents) useful activity , then the question arises. deserves a moment of attention.
