Epiphany in 2024 falls on Saturday. Most stores, supermarkets and shopping centers will be closed on this day.. Why does this happen? According to current regulations, January 6 is considered a public holiday, that is, a day off, and therefore purchases will only be possible to a limited extent.
The upcoming Saturday holiday has prompted retail chains to extend the opening hours of their stores, So, on Friday January 5, many stores in Poland will remain open until late in the evening.
“During the first week of January 2024, the Biedronka chain extends the opening hours of its stores by closing them only half an hour before midnight,” Biedronka representatives inform, adding that “from January 3 to 5, that is to say on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, most stores will be open until 11:30 p.m. (…) Depending on the day, from 2.9 thousand to 3.1 thousand stores will be open at least until ‘at 11:30 p.m. nationwide.
– Our priority is to make shopping as easy as possible for Polish families, not only in terms of prices, but also the availability of our stores – says Paweł Stonecki, operational director and member of the board of directors of the Biedronka chain.
Will all stores be closed on January 6?
Despite the trade ban, certain types of activities will be exempt from this restrictionThis is why on January 6, gas stations, train station and airport shops, gyms, florists and restaurants will remain open.
It is to highlight that the ban does not apply to stores run personally by the ownersin his own name and for his own account.
In connection with some small stores and chains, such as Żabka, may also be open, but the opening hours of each point must be checked individually.
On Epiphany, purchases will also be possible online. Many brands and retail chains have already started selling through their online stores. Promotional campaigns are also underway on many sales platforms.
