M1A2 Abrams tanks in the Polish army
Investments in the Polish army are investments in the peace and security of Poles. The context of Russian aggression against Ukraine has reassured us of the need to continue to develop our defense potential.
The 2023 budget plans unprecedented defense spending of PLN 97.4 billion, or 3%. GDP. In 2015, this amount was only PLN 37 billion, or 2.2%. GDP. This is an increase of over 160%. Thanks to this, we can invest more in our defense.
In April 2022, we signed a contract for the supply of 250 III tanks. generation M1A2 Abrams SEPv3 with associated equipment and 116 additional M1A1 Abrams tanks. This is one of the key purchases for us armyin parallel with the Korean K2 tanks, K9 howitzers, Chunmoo missile systems and FA-50 aircraft which are already reaching us.
In the training provided within the framework of the so-called Abrams Academy in 2022 min. At the Biedrusk Land Forces Training Center, a total of more than 150 soldiers took part. The training will continue in 2023.
Poland within NATO – interoperability and readiness
The Abrams tanks acquired by Poland are identical to those in service with the American armed forces: they are compatible with American equipment. It is extremely important that our new equipment meets NATO standards and is part of modern combat management systems. This allows for organized actions on the battlefield with our allies.

During the meeting with the soldiers, the head of government summarized the year of preparation of the Polish soldiers and wished them a Merry Christmas.
– Let us remember our wonderful and dear soldiers, proud to wear the Polish uniform and proud to defend the security of Poland, because often they will not be sitting at the Christmas Eve table tomorrow and Polish families will miss them. That is why we owe them special gratitude for serving in their posts – wherever they are, wherever the Republic of Poland needs them. – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
