A 20-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Amie Gray and the attempted murder of another woman on a beach in Bournemouth.
Nasen Saadi, from Croydon, only confirmed his name and address during a short hearing at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
On May 24 at 11:42 p.m., police received a report that two people had been stabbed on Durley Chine beach. Gray, 34, a personal trainer from Poole, died at the scene.
Leanne Miles, 38, from Poole, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. She has since been released.
Saadi will appear at Winchester Crown Court on Tuesday. He was then in police custody.
Gray’s wife, Sian Gray, was a witness in court. Earlier this week, she paid tribute to Ama.
“Words cannot describe the pain we feel. Amie was the most loving wife and mother. It will be difficult to do without his laugh and his wide smile. A figure larger than life. I will miss you terribly, darling. To the moon and back, forever and ever,” she said.
“Thank you for all your love and support and for respecting our privacy. This is a difficult time for everyone.
Gray’s mother, Sharon Macklin, said: “As a family we are devastated by the loss of one of the most amazing, funny, kind and energetic souls. When Amie entered the room, it was filled with laughter and her presence was impossible to ignore.
“She was beautiful inside and out and there are no words to express how empty our lives would be without her. We will miss her dearly and our hearts will be forever broken.
Detective Superintendent Richard Dixey, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Amie Grey, as well as the seriously injured woman. We have received an update on the latest findings of our investigation.
“This matter has been thoroughly investigated and we have now consulted with the Crown Prosecution Service, who have approved the charges of murder and attempted murder.
“This means that the case will now be the subject of active legal proceedings and it is extremely important that the justice system can monitor its progress.
“It is also important to emphasize that there must be no further comments or sharing of information online or on social media that could potentially harm the legal proceedings. »
Increased police patrols will continue in Bournemouth this weekend.
