Lodz News The fire brigade was busy and 70 reports concerned the Tomaszów region. The storms that appeared in the Łódź region proved to be devastating, it was decided to cancel the first day of the Audioriver festival, there was a tram collision in Dąbrowa and a landslide in Zdrowie. Many streets in Bałuty were flooded.
The start of the weekend on Friday, July 12th, began in a very unpredictable way.
Storms have passed over Łódź and its surroundings
In total, three storms hit Łódź, one of which was supposed to be very dangerous. The first lightning appeared before 7 pm. At the same time, the electronic music festival Audioriver was taking place in Błonia in Łódź, with fans coming from almost all over the country. Eventually, the decision was made to cancel the first day.
In Tomaszów Mazowiecki (Łódź Voivodeship), the storm was so violent that it damaged, among other things, the Panorama shopping centre, several cars were damaged and many trees fell. The Tomaszów County Fire Department received 70 reports.
After the first storm passed, it soon became clear that this was not the end. The second lightning and heavy rain appeared more than an hour later.
Flooded streets in Bałuty
Many streets in Łódź were flooded. Residents warned that water was accumulating, among others. in Wojska Polskiego and Głowackiego (several years of reconstruction have recently ended there). Difficult travel due to flooding also occurred on Politechniki and Wróblewskiego avenues, ul. Solna, Marysińska, Śląska, Lutomierska, Jaracz, Rojna, Przędzalniana and Fabryczna.
There was also a major flood at the Kurczaki terminus, where tram lines 3, 6, 15 and 41 were blocked.

During the storms that passed through Łódź and Dąbrowski’s Śmigły-Rydz, there was also a collision of trams.
As reported by Deputy Comm. Adam Dembiński of the Łódź Provincial Police Headquarters, two passengers and the driver were taken to hospital.
– Tram line 2 was heading towards Dąbrowski/Tatrzańska and collided head-on with tram 3, which was running properly. Both tram drivers were sober. There were no passengers on the first tram and the driver was unharmed. Two people on the second tram and the driver were taken to hospital.

MPK drivers and passengers should also expect difficulties on Saturday, July 13. There was a landslide near Siewna Street, which damaged the bridge over the Bałutka River. Traffic in this area has been suspended since further notice.

Bus line 83 was diverted to Solec, Biegunowa and Krakowska streets.
