The film “Johnny”, based on facts, will surely move all viewers.
This is the story of Jan Kaczkowski – a priest who had health problems and at the same time was a support for many people. In 2004, he was one of the founders of Puck Home Hospice. In 2007-2009, he coordinated the construction of Hospice Pucki. St. Padre Pio, and in 2009 became its director and chairman of the board. He has set up a training program in Christian bioethics. Father Kaczkowski has given talks and workshops on hospice issues. He also organized workshops on communication and ethics in medicine for medical and law students under the name Areopagus Ethics. In hospice volunteering, he involved the so-called troubled and convict youth. He died in 2016 at the age of 39.
The movie “Johnny” is a true story about loving the world and others, and how everyone deserves a second chance. When Patryk received it from Fr. Jan Kaczkowski, he had no idea how it was going to change his life.
– This is not a story about building a hospice, nor a story about battling a terminal illness. “Johnny” is an emotional roller coaster that alternately entertains and touches, terrifies and touches. The plot takes us through extremely dark times, through the struggle with ourselves and the outside world, to find meaning and hope. Emotions will buzz among viewers not only throughout the screening, but also for several hours afterwards – says the director, Daniel Jaroszek, about the project.
The role of beloved priest Jan Kaczkowski is played by Dawid Ogrodnik, while Patryka will play the award-winning film “25 years of innocence. The case of Tomek Komenda” Piotr Trojan.
The preview screening as part of the New Horizons of Film Education project dedicated to teachers will take place on Tuesday (20/09) at 3:15 p.m. at the Cinéma Forum.
