Dolnośląskie Centrum Sportu (DSC) was opened in the company of the most important activists of sports associations, incl. Adam Małysz (Polish Ski Federation), Joanna Badacz (Polish Biathlon Association) and Łukasz Wachowski (Polish Football Association).
#NaPolanie is one of the most modern facilities of its kind in Europe. It consists of a spacious stadium and a biathlon shooting range as well as the main building, which houses, among other things, all facilities for the organization of competitions. The first official test of the facility is the Polish Biathlon Cup on roller skis held from September 13 to 15.
– This was actually the first test of our setup under competition conditions. Pucha Polski is an official calendar event of the Polish Biathlon Association. Nearly 140 players, judges and members of technical teams took part – he underlines Mariusz Gawlikdirector of the Lower Silesian Sports Center Polana Jakuszycka.
The Piast Bike Race #NaPolanie
It’s hard to imagine Polana Jakuszycka without the Piast Run. Its summer edition appeared during the DCS’s first month of operation. The event, organized for years by the Bieg Piastów Association, this year attracted nearly a thousand participants, accompanied by many fans.
– The new installation will certainly also help in the organization of the next editions of the winter Piast Run, it will increase the comfort of the participants and the fans, but also of all those who visit this place on a daily basis – he says Maciej Kloskapresident of the Park of Innovation and Science of Lower Silesia, which manages the installation #NaPolanie.
Runmageddon League Final at Polana Jakuszycka
The biggest test for the new facility so far has been the Runmageddon league final at Polana Jakuszycka. It is one of the largest amateur sporting events in the country. At the end of October, more than two thousand competitors, accompanied by many enthusiasts, stood at the start of a demanding course.
DCS is also an important step towards the return to Poland and Lower Silesia of the most important international sporting events, as the halls easily adapt to their operation and development. The national sports federations request their organization from the international federations. At the beginning of 2024, Polana Jakuszycka will host the European Junior Biathlon Championships.
