Advergaming is a set of marketing techniques consisting in creating a computer game whose main purpose is to advertise:
- brands,
- the product
- or services.
To better show the company or thing advertised in the eyes of the player and the recipient of the advertisement, the games had to be attractive and interesting – otherwise the effect would be counterproductive.
Before the internet age, the term did not exist and it was a bit different. Currently, however, the essence of advergaming is primarily to reach a large audience with the advertised product or brand. The main purpose of this form of advertising is primarily to provide entertainment in the form of online games.
Some of our national brands also offer promotional games. These were both full-fledged media titles and later online applications, usually created with Adobe Flash technology. Most often, the main subject of such productions was sweets and other food products, mainly intended for children. Why?
In the recent past, video games were treated as a passing fad with children as the biggest audience. Although this assumption is not false and it is to this day a much-loved entertainment for the youngest, the fashion has not disappeared and computer games have become a permanent part of the pantheon of entertainment media. .
Among this type of production there were very good games which, despite the awareness that it was an advertisement, attracted players from all over the world for hours.
