Michał Śnietka, a student at the Faculty of Management Engineering at the Białystok University of Technology, was included in the national team for the World Triathlon Championships in Abu Dhabi. He’s going to the contest in a week.
Michał studies logistics on a daily basis. He is also president of the Student Scientific Club “LogiSQUAD”. For years, he has perfectly combined the passion for acquiring and deepening his knowledge with sporting activity. Interestingly – before he began to struggle with his own body, he participated in motocross competitions.
– I started my adventure with sport in 2012, when I got my first motorcycle and started my motocross career – recalls Michał Śnietka. – In this sport, I managed to win several cups for the championships of the Warmian-Masurian district, the championships of the North Polish motocross zone, as well as some local competitions. In the meantime, to improve my physical condition, I started running and cycling.
– Due to the fact that I am not afraid of challenges, I decided to run my first half marathon, which took place in Ostrołęka (May 28, 2017), winning the statuette of the youngest competitor to complete the half marathon – says Śnietka. “From then on, I started running half marathons every year.
When Michał Śnietka started studying at the Białystok University of Technology, he continued his education, but also wanted to broaden his horizons. From September 2021 to February 2022, as part of the Erasmus+ student exchange program, he studied at the University of Valencia. He does not neglect his sporting passions.
– I had excellent conditions for training in all three disciplines of triathlon – says Śnietka. – I swam three times a week, ran twice a week and once did a long session of cycling. The student did not hesitate to participate in the competition.
– My greatest achievement of this time is the half marathon in Valencia, completed with a time of 1 hour and 38 minutes – reveals Śnietka. At the same time, as a member of the Academic Sports Association, he also represents the Białystok University of Technology in athletics, rowing ergometer and mountain biking.
– I decided to do a triathlon after watching the movie “The Best”, which describes the story of Jerzy Górski – admits Śnietka. – For the first time I participated in a triathlon on July 3, 2022 in Skierniewice, taking 3rd place (category M18, distance 1/4IM), then in Elbląg 1st place (category M18, distance 1/4IM) and at Gołdap also taking 1st place (cat. M18, distance 1/4IM) in the Garmin Iron Triathlon series. On August 21, 2022, I participated in the Polish Triathlon Championships in Białystok, achieving the time of 2:20:10 and taking 3rd place (U18, Olympic distance), thanks to which I was nominated by the Association Polish Triathlon National Team for the Triathlon World Championships from November 24 to 26, 2022 in Abu Dhabi.
When he was called up to the national team for the World Triathlon Championships in Abu Dhabi, he began intensive training combined with the development of a proper diet.
Michał is preparing hard for the competition. Now he spends a lot of time in the hall of the Academic Sports Center of the Bialystok University of Technology. You can practice running here. It also has a gym and exercise bikes. Besides, she goes swimming.
