BACK WITH TWO MEDALS
The Polish Youth Championship (under 16) took place last weekend in Kielce. Representatives of two clubs from Elbląg, Tomita and MKS Truso, also took part in the championship competition, winning two medals. The silver medal, weighing +70 kg, was won by Aleksandra Kocięba from Truso. On the way to the final, the Elbląg team beat Kinga Cichon (Ippon Tychy), Nikola Zaręba (Kume Judo Warsaw) and Nicola Widłak (Czarni Bytom). In the final, the representative of the club from Elbląg lost the fight for the championship with Zuzanna Banaszowska (Lemur Warsaw). In turn, Maciej Dryka (Tomita Elbląg) started in the weight of +90 kg and won the bronze medal. In the first fight he beat Paweł Roszek (Galeon Gdynia), in the second he lost to last national champion Olaf Płotka (Judo Shamo Ełk), but he remained in the tournament, fighting in the play-offs. In this phase of the matches he beat Bartosz Somstyko (Mako Judo Wrocław) and in the fight for the lowest place on the podium he won together with Dawid Kamiński (Grizzly Gdańsk). The scorer place was obtained by Dawid Romanowski (Tomita Elbląg) weighing 73 kg, who finished the championship in seventh place.
SPORTS FOR THE DISABLED
AWARD-WINNING ACTIVITIES AND CLUB
A sports gala was held in Warsaw at the Plaza Hotel on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Polish association of sports for the disabled “Start”. It is a rich history of this association. Reach people and change their lives. During this period, Poland won 743 medals at the Paralympic Games. On the occasion of the jubilee, the Gala was a place and an occasion for memories and distinctions with national and departmental decorations of distinguished players, coaches, activists and clubs. During the ceremony, Tomasz Woźny, president of the integration sports club Atak Elbląg, who has held this position for 25 years, was honored with the Golden Cross of Merit by the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, for his outstanding services to the development and popularization of disabled sports and for outstanding sports achievements. He was also a former participant of the Paralympic Games, where in 1996 in Atlanta (USA) he won a bronze medal with the Polish national team, and also performed in Sydney (Australia) in 2000. In addition, Tomasz Woźny, representing white and red colors in 1998 in Olsztyn with the team, won the title of Paralympic world champion, and a year later he won the World Cup in Montreal. During the ceremony, the PZSN “Start” county prize was also awarded to Aneta Rękas-Woźna, who has worked as the director of the Elbląg club for almost a quarter of a century. He is an excellent organizer of sporting events, as well as a financially conscious person in this multi-section club. The distinction was also awarded to the club, which is one of the most outstanding in Poland.

THE TIGER PISTON GOES TO THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
At the request of the national junior team coach Dariusz Kochanowski, by decision of the PZB training department, the current Polish junior 80 kg champion Nikodem Kozak from KSW Tygrys Elbląg was appointed to the Polish national team for the next junior world championships, which will take place from November 13 to 27 in La Nucii (Spain). The championship competition is expected to involve more than 600 female and male competitors from nearly 90 countries. The Polish men’s team prepares for the world championships at the Central Olympic Preparation Center in Giżycko. The training camp started on November 2 and will last until November 11. The Polish national team consists of nine players. Here they are:

SANDRA KRUK IN THE NEXT GROUP
At the Spała Olympic Preparation Center there is currently a weekly training session for the senior national team. Currently unaffiliated former UKS Kontra Elbląg competitor Sandra Kruk attends the training camp. Under the watchful eye of trainer Tomasz Dylak, besides Kruk, the following workouts for upcoming performances on the international stage are: Natalia Rolska 50 kg (Pomorzanin Toruń), Sandra Drabik – 54 kg (Kickboxing Kielce), Żaklina Kociołek – 60 kg (Gostyń Martial Arts), Aneta Rygielska – 63 kg (Pomeranian Toruń), Elżbieta Wójcik – 75 kg (Karlino Boxing Club).
