Only a few days left until the Opening Ceremony. As the Olympic flame begins its 61st day of relay Théméricourt (Val d’Oise), the French men’s and women’s basketball teams face Canada and Japan respectively, as part of their Olympic preparations.
The passing flame in Val-d’Oise. After a stopover in Oise, the Olympic flame will cross Val-d’Oise on Thursday. It will join the municipality of Théméricourt to that of Soisy-sous-Montmorency, notably via Pontoise, Argenteuil and Saint-Prix. Among the hundred or so torchbearers that day we find Camille Lacourt, five-time world champion in swimming, football referee Stéphanie Frappart, and another swimmer, Stephan Caron, two-time bronze medallist at the Olympic Games in the 100 metres freestyle. 1988 in Seoul and 1992 in Barcelona).
Athletes continue to take over the Olympic Village. The Olympic Village has been open since Thursday, welcoming athletes who will take part in the Games. Although several members of the Australian, Argentinian, Brazilian and Kenyan delegations have already taken over the site, many athletes are still expected in Seine-Saint-Denis between now and the opening ceremony on 26 July.
The French basketball teams continue their preparations. Defeated by Serbia in a friendly match (79-67) on Friday 12 July, Vincent Collet’s players will play their penultimate Olympic preparation match, Friday against Canada, at the CO’Met in Orléans (21:00). The French women’s team will also try to win against Japan, in Reims (19:00).
