Danone wants to convince Poles to eat healthy

Over the past 20 years, Danone companies in Poland have allocated more than PLN 111 million to the implementation of social projects.

Business and science will combine healthy eating with environmental impact

In a country where 12 million people suffer from food-related diseases, and where pro-environmental actions are only gaining momentum, the HEALTH-PLANET-Future platform of expertise will deal in particular with i.a . issues related to the climate crisis and the impact of nutrition on human health. The think tank will represent a whole new quality in public debate, focusing on an interdisciplinary look at food trends and sustainable production and consumption.

– By starting this project, we have become an integrator of the scientific world linked to food and the natural environment, as well as a partner providing business expertise. Through the combination of skills, we want to create sustainable nutritional solutions for generations and for generations – says Paweł Piątek, General Manager of the Danone Group of Companies in Poland.

The think tank will be a space where leading scientists and undisputed experts in their fields will meet. The initiative has already been joined by dr hab. Eng. Zbigniew Karaczun specializing in environmental protection, climate, sozology, ecological policy; teacher. dr hab. Ewelina Hallmann dealing with agricultural sciences, particularly in the field of food technology and nutrition, mainly organic foods; Dr. Katarzyna Wolnicka, expert in the field of food and nutrition, and Monika Borycka, valued trendsetter, innovation analyst and specialist in the field of future studies.

Danone’s next commitments

Paweł Piątek, who has been managing all Danone product categories for a year, announces new activities, including the construction of the largest computer and data center and the obtaining of the B Corp certificate by the whole group. – In January, we celebrated the joining of our company Danone, which offers dairy and vegetable products, to the movement of companies better for the world, namely Benefit Corporations (B Corp). Within two years, the certification process will cover two more companies – says Paweł Piątek.

Danone in Poland – what it produces

The DANONE group of companies in Poland includes Dairy and Vegetable Products (Danone), Waters and Beverages (Żywiec Zdrój) and Infant and Toddler Foods and Medical Nutrition (Nutricia). In total, more than 3,000 people work there. specialists, and indirectly, the company creates 16,000 additional jobs in various sectors. The group’s 7 production plants manufacture products that reach the tables of more than 100 countries on 5 continents. DANONE’s largest IT & Data hub is also under construction in Poland, which will eventually employ more than 215 tech enthusiasts.

By developing cooperation with local suppliers, national production and systematically strengthening exports, Danone has for years contributed to the development of the Polish economy – generating added value of more than PLN 3.5 billion.

Danone constantly strives to minimize its own environmental impact by promoting flexitarian food and regenerative agriculture, actively preventing food waste and reducing greenhouse gas emissions – in the years 2015-2021, greenhouse gas emissions greenhouse gases in factories have been reduced by 74%. Currently, 100% of the electricity for all DANONE factories comes from RES.
