In Finland, eight out of ten people surveyed said they turn to the web for health-related information. This is 22 percentage points higher than in 2011. Denmark recorded a similar level (75%).
In Spain, in 2011, only 38 percent of adults admitted to searching for medical information on the Internet, but as the infographic from statista.com shows, after a decade this percentage has increased significantly, because in 2021, 69 percent of respondents said they turn to Google for health advice. A similarly significant increase was also recorded in Ireland.
In most countries where the study was conducted, “Doctor Google” was more popular than a decade ago. The only exception is Germany, where network dependence for these topics fell between 2011 and 2021, from 54 to 45 percent.
