It is a prospect of 3-5 years, when Germany will create a fund that can disburse funds to Polish citizens, said PiS MP Arkadiusz Mularczyk in the PAP Studio. As he added, the amount of claims currently amounts to more than PLN 7 trillion and is constantly growing.
The report we have prepared concerns the calculated losses at the end of December 2021 – PLN 6 trillion 220 billion. However, at the end of this year, this amount will be much higher, because it is subject to revaluation. It will be well over 7 trillion PLN. As in-store prices increase, the amount of our receivables from Germany is indexed
– said Mularczyk in the PAP Studio for the amount of reparations demanded by the Polish side in a diplomatic note sent to the German government.
According to MP PiS, after sending the diplomatic note, Germany has a chance to “rethink and understand its wrong attitude towards Poland and start talks, dialogue and negotiations”.
I believe that the German Chancellor will come to her senses (…) and the talks will begin
– added.
“Each Polish citizen should receive an amount that will be negotiated “
When asked when Germany might decide to pay reparations, Mularczyk replied: “I think it’s also up to us.”
If they see that there is determination, strength, unity here, they will make a decision sooner. And if they don’t, they’ll have a problem. For over the next few months and years we will be everywhere, in all international forums, reminders of German war crimes and the fact that Germany owes Poland
– He said.
According to him, “it is in a perspective of 3 to 5 years that Germany will create a fund which will be able to pay money to citizens”.
I think every Polish citizen should receive an amount that will be negotiated. Every Polish family suffered human and material losses, was displaced and property was lost. Part of the funds should also, on the basis of a special fund, be allocated to the development in Poland of: education, economy, health and education. It should be a long-term program over 30-50 years, which should serve the Polish state, but also society
– added the PiS MP.
Polish–German dispute over World War II reparations
On September 1, a report on the losses suffered by Poland as a result of German aggression and occupation during World War II was presented, which shows that the total amount of losses is more than PLN 6 billion 220 billion PLN 609 million. The report was prepared by the team operating during the previous legislature, led by Mularczyk.
At the beginning of October, Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau signed a diplomatic note on war reparations addressed to the German side.
The head of the German Foreign Ministry Annalena Baerbock, referring to the note sent by Poland, said during her last visit to Warsaw that “the question of reparations from the point of view of the federal government is closed”.
