Italian specialist in the solitary fight against time according to information published by The Gazzetta dello Sport tried to attack the world record for the hourly journey. The test lasted 35 minutes, and during this time Filippo Ganna covered an average of 56.16 km / h – a much higher pace than the current record holder.

Dan Bigham achieved in August this year the best result in history by overtaking Victor Campenaerts. The Belgian covered 55.089km in 2019, and the British aerodynamics specialist on the INEOS Grenadiers team on the Grenchen track covered 55.548km. If Filippo Ganna keeps up the pace in Saturday’s test, we will see an improvement in the best result in history by more than half a kilometer.

I look forward to taking on this challenge. Even if it is a very long hour. I’m curious to see how my body will withstand this effort and how far I can go. This is an opportunity to test your physical and mental limits. This is an important step in my career

– announces Filippo Ganna.

The Italian will try to break the world record on Saturday, from 8:00 p.m. The site of the attack will be the same velodrome where the best result has now been established, i.e. the facility located in Grenchen, Switzerland. Filippo Ganna will be riding a specially made bike, which we talked about in this article.
