A church fire in Finland. Police suspect arson

Before the appearance of firefighters, historical church from 1881 completely burnt down. It was built after the previous church on the same site in 1872 was also consumed by fire.

The police, who have already opened an investigation, confirmed the information that the door was tied with a rope. Media reports say there were no candles or heaters in the building that could have started the fire. Fire according to preliminary findings, it started in the vestibule of the building. Police say it’s too early to talk about specifics, but services aren’t ruling out deliberately setting the church on fire.

Additionally, they are looking for a brown Opel Astra that could be linked to the fire.

At the same time, the case of a fire that broke out in a nearby village, 30 km from the church, is being investigated. The fire has consumed Accommodation single-family home and a corpse was found in the burned area. Police checks if the two cases are related in any way.
