A unique show about great Poles will come to New York. At the Holocaust Museum, high school students from Łódź will perform the show “Passports of Life”, telling the story of forgotten heroes of the so-called Ładoś Group, whose action saved about 8,000 people. Jews in World War II. The Polish community and Americans will be able to see it in four locations in total.
Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York (December 1, 7:00 p.m.), Associated Polish Home in Philadelphia (December 4, 6:00 p.m.) and Polish National Home Warsaw (December 7, 6:30 p.m.) and the Polish & Slavic Center (December 2, 6:30 p.m.) Brooklyn will host a special in early December. In the show “Passports of Life” they will see the story of Aleksander Ładoś and Polish diplomats associated with him from the Polish Embassy in Bern, Switzerland, and activists of Jewish organizations cooperating with them, who saved persecuted Polish and European Jews by issuing them fake passports from Latin American countries. This operation is still considered one of the most confusing threads of World War II.
The performers of the show, directed by Małgorzata Sarnecka-Papis, Małgorzata Ułamek and Iwona Witkowska, will be for them student actors from the 8th high school. Adam Asnyk in Lodz. The special guest will be the famous Polish cantor Symcha Keller. The performances will be accompanied by the screening of the film “Polmission. Passport Secrets » dir. Jacek Papis. The picture is a continuation of the film “Paraguay Passports” and tells the story of the survivors. After the screening, there will be an interview with the director and a discussion. The Hatikva Foundation, in cooperation with Gram-X Promotions, will also present an exhibition featuring the history of the Bern Group’s activities by Dr. Aleksandra Kmak-Pamirska.
