Until now, Hungary has opposed the transport of arms supplies to Ukraine through its territory, explaining this position by the fear that the Russians will fire on Hungarians living in Transcarpathia, Ukraine.
– We are shocked by what is happening here, we are very sorry for you. We have fought Russia three times in the past 200 years. They were death buoys. Unlike many Western partners, we have felt firsthand what the resistance to this great Eastern state is – he said Hungarian Deputy Foreign Minister Levente Magyar in Lviv on Tuesday during a meeting with the mayor of that city, Andriy Sadowy.
– At the same time, I would like to emphasize that Hungary will not supply arms – this is our position. However, third countries may use our territory – said Magyar, quoted by the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
The Deputy Head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry added that his country was ready to accept Ukrainian children in its sanatoriums and summer camps. The Hungarian delegation also offered to help in the treatment of civilians and military personnel in medical institutions in Hungary and assured that Ukrainians are ready to fund a thousand scholarships in Hungarian universities.
