Iran was afraid of the consequences. This is to supply Russia with less weapons

Axios says it is UN Security Council Resolution 2231. The document was adopted in 2015 as part of the nuclear deal. According to her, countries cannot transfer or receive Iranian ballistic missiles and drones with a range of more than 300 kilometers and a payload of more than 500 kilograms until October 2023. The Security Council of the UN will meet on December 19 to discuss the implementation of resolution 2231. .

The United States, the United Kingdom and France considered that Iranian drone deliveries to Russia violated the resolution. Tehran and Moscow strongly oppose it. Iran initially denied supplying Russia with such weapons. He eventually confirmed the deliveries, but he believes they were delivered before the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February this year.

Iran has not completely abandoned arms deliveries to Russia, but plans to transfer only missiles with a range of less than 300 kilometers and wishes to modify other missiles to remain within the parameters of the resolution, Israeli intelligence officials said.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry and a spokesperson for Iran’s representative to the UN did not comment on the information.

Today, ahead of the ambassadors’ meeting, foreign ministers discussed the restrictions. deputy leader Polish MFA Paweł Jabłoński reported after the meeting that work on sanctions was progressing and the list of discrepancies was getting shorter, although he admitted that they remained. He pointed out that Poland does not accept exemptions and that if they did, they would have to be defined very precisely.
