Last weekend Jacek Kurski flew to Chopin Airport, from where he departed for the United States. The attention of the journalists of “Fact” was not so much the destination itself, but the one that accompanied the former president of Telewizja Polska. As they reported, a black Audi belonging to the State Protection Service drove up to the airport terminal twice – the first time when Jacek Kurski came to check baggage and the next time when the departure time was approaching. Jacek Kurski was to fly to London first, then from there a direct flight to Washington.

“Fact” recalled that the former president DVT has enjoyed state protection for several years. In November 2020, TVN24 reported that it had been awarded to him by the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration “for the good of the state”. Such a decision was taken because Jacek Kurski was to receive threats.

According to “Fact”, however, as of three months ago, neither service had received any information or reports of threats, and the police had not initiated any proceedings in connection with the case. Therefore, it is not clear why the former president of TVP (he lost his post in September 2022) still enjoys the protection granted to the most important people in the state. According to “Fakt”, Jacek Kurski promised the editors a comment, but “eventually stopped responding to messages”. SOP also declined to comment on the matter.

In December 2022 Jacek Kurski started working as an alternate executive director Swiss-Polish Constituent Assembly of the World Bank Group in Washington. “In addition to Poland and Switzerland, it includes: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The candidacy of Mr. Jacek Kurski for the post of Alternate Director was proposed by the Chairman of the NBP as Governor of the Republic of Poland at the World Bank.

“I confirm: I took a position in line with my training and my managerial experience as Deputy Executive Director at the World Bank, aware that this implies resigning from certain public activities or political ambitions. I always thought there was no life outside of politics. Well it is. I know I will do good service here too” – Jacek Kurski wrote on Twitter.
