The third day of the national championship at the Arena Lodowa in Tomaszów was a day of competition between the middle-distance runners who fought not only for the titles of the best in Poland, but also for the places in the national team. for the next World Cup in Stavanger (November 11-13 and November 18-20).

Like the previous days, Saturday also the favorites won unanimously. Karolina Bosiek of KS Pilica Tomaszów Mazowiecki topped the women’s 1,500 meters competition, with a time of 2:01.78, she won her fourth MP medal this weekend in the distances. Thanks to the excellent finish, silver went to Magdalena Czyszczoń from AZS AWF Katowice, and Natalia Jabrzyk from KS Pilica was on the lowest step of the podium.

– First of all, I approached this race to do better than last time in training. There are still a lot of errors in my driving, but I try to eliminate them from gear to gear. I am optimistic, I should start this season – says Bosiek, who positively perceives training changes in the national team. – There is a new formation and a new perspective in the national team and we as players have to adapt to it. Czyszczoń, who specializes in long distances, also settled for silver in the 1,500 metres.

– I knew that there are only three laps, I have to go faster and somehow it will be – says Czyszczoń, who is pleased with the increased competition in the Polish national team at medium and long distances. She herself is counting on successful performances at the next World Cup. – It’s great that there is a background, the girls want to hunt and run for a place in the frame. First of all, I would like to calm down emotionally. If my head is calm, my body on the track will also show what it can do.

On the men’s side, Marcin Bachanek of KS Arena Tomaszów Mazowiecki, who defended the title last year, triumphed over this distance. Polish runner-up in the 1500 meters was teammate Szymon Palka, and third was Dawid Burzykowski of AZS Zakopane.

– I was rather sure of my departure. After Friday’s performance in 1000 meters, I proved to myself that I can run for high places – says Bachanek, who was not in the Olympic team for the last Beijing Olympics. – It was close to qualifying and we had to pull ourselves together, analyze certain things and come back stronger – he adds.

The struggles of the national leaders were watched by Paweł Abratkiewicz, the coach of the Polish speed skating team (the Polish speed skating team is sponsored by PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna).

– The main objective of this competition was the technical improvement of the players. We know that they qualify for the World Cup, but they had to control the elements that we work hard on during training – says Abratkiewicz. “We’ve been on the ice for eight weeks, so that’s not enough time to expect much progress,” he adds.

AZS AWF Katowice won the women’s team race: Czyszczoń, Olga Kaczmarek and Maja Płończyk. The second was the team of WTŁ Stegny Warszawa, and the third – KS Pilica Tomaszów Mazowiecki.
