‘The Guardian’ spotlights young Lechia’s keeper
The Guardian is one of Britain’s largest newspapers, founded in 1821 in Manchester. It has an extensive international section, plenty of space is also dedicated to literary and artistic topics, and there is no shortage of articles on sports.
The British daily has just published a list of the 60 greatest talents in the world of footballers born in 2005. These are players who generally represent well-known European clubs, such as Bayern Munich or Sporting Lisbon. They play in different positions in their teams. The list includes Lechia Gdańsk goalkeeper – Antoni Mikułko – as the only representative of the Polish club.
“Mikułko is a talented goalkeeper, in 2021 he signed his first professional contract, he played for the Polish national team under 16, 17 and now under 18, and experts say he could become another Wojciech Szczęsny, Artur Boruc or Jan Tomaszewski bench in league matches.”

Antoni Mikulko on the Lechia bench for now
Born in Gdańsk, son of Magdalena and Maciej Mikulek. My mother is a teacher in one of the general secondary schools in Gdańsk, while my father Maciej is an entrepreneur. Antoni was born on February 11, 2005. He was a player in the Lechia Gdańsk Football Academy, then in the Lechia Gdańsk junior team, in 2021 he joined the Biało-Zielone first team. The transfermarkt.pl portal currently values the 17-year-old goalkeeper at 50,000 euro.
He is 189 cm tall and weighs 77 kg. He hasn’t played the league game yet, but he was on the bench. On April 14 this year, he entered the field in the 77th minute of the charity match between Lechia and Shakhtar Donetsk.
STOP THE WAR. Lechia Gdańsk and Shakhtar Donieck played for peace and Ukraine
– I am proud of my son, because he is a wise and responsible boy – emphasizes Magdalena Mikułko. – We are all Lechia fans at home. When Antek saw himself on this Guardian’s list, he was obviously happy, but nothing more. He knows well that hard work is the most important. He is focused on the next training sessions and matches. Currently, his biggest dream is to make his debut for the Lechia first team, in a league game. And it’s the dream of our whole family.
On the list of “The Guardian” of the most talented footballers in the world since 2005, in addition to the goalkeeper of Lechia, there is another Pole – Dariusz Stalmach, player of AC Milan (he joined the Italian club this year in from Górnik Zabrze for half a million euros).
