Robert Lewandowski will play his second World Cup in Qatar. Sports Minister Kamil Bortniczuk in an interview with the “Interia” portal admitted that this will probably be the last world championship for “Lewy” in his career.
Lewandowski is of course still the leader of our national team. However, the striker is already 34, so his appearance at the next event in this tier is a slight question mark.
– Robert Lewandowski is certainly aware that this is rather his last World Cup. There are a lot of exceptional players who are not at the World Cup. Let’s be happy to have won against Sweden and we can wonder what our chances are and if Robert will have the opportunity to show his genius and not watch the championship on TV – said Kamil Bortniczuk quoted by the portal “Interia”.
The sports minister was also asked about his predictions for Poland’s group stage results. Bortniczuk stressed that even small wins are the most important.
– Like everyone else, I want us to win. 1:0 is more than enough. Regardless of how the game goes, I take the score 1-0 three times in the blind group – noted Kamil Bortniczuk.
– It’s important to get into the tournament well. The technical staff and the coach are certainly aware of their responsibility. On the other hand, we are not favorites in at least two of the duels. And Czesław Michniewicz likes to play without being a favorite – added the sports minister.
