Justyna Janiec-Palczewska, the foundation’s president, said the response to the call has been overwhelming.
– This is several tons of aid, it was collected by parishes and schools in Poznań, but also from all over Poland, people sent us sleeping bags that they ordered on the Internet. The situation in Ukraine is difficult, you often have to manage without electricity, this support will be very necessary – she noted.
According to the foundation, Ukrainian refugees helped pack the transport and the truck driver, who is also from Ukraine, volunteered and gave up his salary.
In total, more than 15 tonnes of aid have been collected to date. Fundraising continues, another transport will leave mid-December.
