Metavers – questions and doubts – Computerworld

The business community is excited about the new metaverse technology, feeling that it can help economic recovery. In the coming months, investors will blindly buy shares of companies developing metaverse-labeled IT solutions that can radically change the world. Critics say the tech is overrated, however, and they doubt everyone will embrace this VR just yet.

Never before has anyone or anything tried to interfere with our lives so much as the Metarverse. Analysts also warn that the idea is a huge minefield that many companies will fall into. The metaverse environment will be very difficult to oversee, and in fact, at least initially, there will be a huge legal mess here.

The very term metaverse is difficult to define precisely. In general, it is a virtual world in which the so-called avatars. But how avatars will affect our real world, no one knows exactly.

It is with their help that people want to communicate with each other, participate in virtual meetings and, for example, concerts, rest, play sports or trade. The devil is in the retail solutions though, and these have yet to emerge, and it’s hard to tell at the current stage of development of this environment which direction to take.

The main thing in the creation of new metaverse solutions will be Facebook (Meta reduction), since it was he who initiated this topic, focusing, for example, on the development of special glasses that will serve to navigate in this virtual reality . But will people accept the fact that without wearing such glasses, we will not enter metaverse space? Some argue that at least the younger generation (i.e. those under 24) will consent to this and will drive the technology. They are the ones who must be convinced of the concept of organizing work meetings where avatars play the main role, and not a real video message.

One of the next hurdles could be the need to monitor these virtual worlds so that they are simply safe. It is also about subjects as important as freedom of expression or respect for privacy, and therefore the need to develop regulations that will regulate this issue. Some are already reporting threats like the issue of sexual harassment, which will take on a whole new meaning in this environment. What about the hate speech, political correctness or fake news content that avatars will now spread? As you can see, there are a lot of problems to solve.
