I believe that this week PiS MP Arkadiusz Mularczyk will be appointed Deputy Foreign Minister; He will deal with European issues and relations with Germany, government spokesman Piotr Müller said on Monday.
Mularczyk is the new deputy head of the Foreign Ministry
Mularczyk’s appointment as deputy head of the Foreign Ministry was announced earlier by Foreign Ministry spokesman Łukasz Jasina.
A government spokesman asked on RMF FM radio, incl. about when Mularczyk will become deputy foreign minister, Müller replied that he thought “it will be this week”.
Because it’s a formal question, if I understand correctly. The request of Minister (Foreign Affairs, Zbigniew) Rau has been submitted or will be presented today, and this week the Minister will be appointed
The government spokesperson responded.
Asked what Mularczyk would do as deputy minister, Müller replied that he would eventually take over the skills of former deputy head of the foreign ministry – and now European affairs minister – Szymon Szynkowski alias Sęk . He specified that it was about European issues and relations with Germany. The government spokesman added that the PiS MP had spoken about Germany’s war reparations. Mularczyk led the team responsible for preparing the report on Poland’s losses as a result of German aggression and occupation during World War II, which was presented on September 1.
When asked if that was what the government spokesman in the Mularczyk ministry would be dealing with – the issue of reparations from Germany – he replied: “reparations too, of course”. When asked if MP PiS would be a plenipotentiary for these issues, he replied that there was no such information.
But of course he was responsible for the report, so of course, as deputy foreign minister, it will be natural that he continues these activities in the foreign ministry.
Muller said.
He said he didn’t know if Mularczyk would be “a proxy because such a formal power of attorney, as a separate resolution, is not always necessary.”
Simply, the skills management at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is enough. But it may also be necessary to give a power of attorney
– added.
Müller also pointed out that the issue of Germany’s war reparations “is a subject that will probably be pursued for years.”
Like, I don’t know, Namibia negotiated their reparations for things over 100 years ago. Similarly, Poland will take action in this area. How fast it will be, we don’t know. However, this subject should not be abandoned. We are not like Grzegorz Schetyna, who pretends that the subject is closed
said the government spokesman.
On September 1, a report on the losses suffered by Poland as a result of German aggression and occupation during World War II was presented, which shows that the total amount of losses exceeds 6 billion 220 billion PLN . The report was prepared by the team operating during the previous legislature, led by Mularczyk. The day after the report was presented, the then deputy head of the Foreign Ministry, Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, handed the report over to the German coordinator for cooperation with Poland, Dietmar Nietan.
At the beginning of October, Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau signed a diplomatic note on war reparations addressed to the German side.
Head of the German Foreign Ministry Annalena Baerbock, referring to the note on reparations issued by Poland, said during her visit to Warsaw that “the question of reparations from the point of view of the federal government is closed”.
