Adam Bielan refers to voices on Radio Zet that Poland may run out of coal. “I hear assurances from the government, particularly from the Department of State Property, that there will be no shortage of coal. There may not be enough coal at the start of the heating period which has already started. All those who in previous years bought coal as a precaution for the entire heating season will have to spread these purchases over time, said MEP PiS.
The leader of the Republican Party explained that the problem is not due to the lack of availability of coal on world markets, but rather to logistics. – So far, coal has been imported by trains from Russia, and now it has to be transported by ships from other parts of the world, for example, from Indonesia, Colombia or the United States. Reloading in the port is much more complicated. This is the bottleneck – explained Bielan.
Adam Bielan on the coal problems in Poland
The Law and Justice MEP expressed the hope that there would be no “dramatic situations where someone freezes”. Bielan revealed that “to ensure transhipment in the ports, the government had to make difficult decisions and withdraw goods which were under contract and which were not as necessary as coal”. The leader of the Republican Party stressed that the problem of shortage of hydrocarbons linked to the war in Ukraine caused by Russia affects all European countries.
– In Poland it is coal, but in many countries there is no gas. See in what dramatic situation the Germans, who do not have an LNG terminal, found themselves at their request. They use Russian gas much more than we use coal – summarized Bielan. European deputy SPI Finally, he recalled that Qatar had signed a long-term contract with China and “showed the Germans a fig”.
