We are not a secondary state, we are a primary state in Europe; and as such a country, we will certainly pursue an appropriate policy – Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Saturday at the final session of the “Warsaw Summit of the ECR Party”.
As the Prime Minister said, “we have climbed this rock, as our poet said, of the proud Calliope and we do not want to be knocked down”.
But – as he pointed out – “we have to conduct our policy very intelligently”.
“We are not a secondary state, we are a primary state in Europe”, underlined the Prime Minister.
“And, as such a country, we will certainly pursue appropriate policies to give hope to our society, not only today, but also after the elections, which will probably be in 11 months, after these elections which will determine the future of Poland. These elections where it is so important that we are united, that we can play different instruments, but that we remember that politics is a team game. Here there is no place for soloists, we are and must be a harmonious orchestra,” said Mateusz Morawiecki.
According to him, then surely the United Right, which also includes the Republican Party, will not only be able to pursue its pro-family, pro-social, solidarity and freedom program, but it will also be able to carry out a wise foreign policy.
“One that strengthens the security of our borders and gives hope to the Poles that they will soon reach the same level of economic development as Western countries, and will also exceed this level”, underlined the Prime Minister.
Head of government: we need a unification of the forces that want a republican Europe
During his speech, Morawiecki said that Europe faces a big question. “Will Europe go in a republican direction, in a community direction, in a direction that combines freedom and solidarity, or will it slide into a centralized and bureaucratic juggernaut,” he said.
For the head of government, this is a fundamental internal choice which will determine the fate of Europeans and the fate of Poles in the decades to come. “It is also a choice that will affect the second big question, the question about the external relations of the European Union and the role of the Union, the role of Europe in the whole world” – he noted.
“It is also a choice that will affect the second big question, the question about the external relations of the European Union and the role of the Union, the role of Europe in the whole world” – he noted.
The Prime Minister noted that we live in a time of “geopolitical breakthrough”, which happens once in decades, sometimes once in a century.
“Thus, today, Europe must also answer the question of whether it wants to be a major and important global player, a transatlantic player, whether it wants to be a subject or rather an object played by the greats of this world, in particular – what we have had the best evidence of in the last 15 years – played by his big, dangerous – today we also know that today – barbaric neighbor, by Russia – said Morawiecki.
Referring to the slogan of the meeting, the head of government asked what “the Europe of our dreams” should look like. “First of all, we have to say that we need the unification of all the forces that want a sensible Europe, a united Europe, a republican Europe and a greater Europe,” he said.
Prime Minister: The rule of law is today transformed into a judicial system
“The political community, which is so important, the Polish community and the European community (…) is also our home. Poland is at the heart of Europe, it wants to be at the heart of Europe and it wants Europe matters in the world,” said the Prime Minister.
As he added, “we see clearly today that this political community is torn apart by various tribal struggles, by the internet, and by ideological bubbles, and is often highly backward itself.”
“And sometimes that becomes its own contradiction. That is why – contrary to the various calumnies hurled at us – we want to be a party of unity, the unity of all Poles. It’s my big commitment, it’s my big dream. as a task for anyone, republicanism and he carries the thought of solidarity deep in his heart,” he stressed.
As the head of government said, the second great pillar of republicanism is the rule of law. “The rule of law is today transforming – as we can see – mainly into a judicial system, into a state of courts. And yet, that was not what the founding fathers of democracy had in mind” , Morawiecki said. He recalled that they were setting “markers for European republicanism, like Jan Ostroróg, who spoke of the equality of all before the law”.
“If Europe is to be strong, it must be a Europe of strong and sovereign states”
The Prime Minister indicated that among the great timeless pillars to which all republican formations refer is, among others, the mixed system – based on the principle of the separation of powers.
“However, this system, as seen today, very often turns into corporate rule, or at least co-governance, into media rule, and so instead of counteracting these highly degenerative mechanisms and complementing the old – only 200 old tripartite division of powers – with new ones, characteristic of In the current world order, the power of money, the power of big business, the power of business – we can say – these are often contemporary strong systems that shrink and create a kind of amalgam incompatible with the realities of the modern world” – he said.
He stressed that he does not know if today’s political elites in countries like Poland have understood this correctly. “But maybe yes, maybe these elites are so comprador that they de facto serve the interests of other countries.
According to Morawiecki, the fourth pillar – creating appropriate educational systems, value systems like attachment to family, Christianity, which is the foundation of modern Europe, attachment to sovereignty, to identity – is very often replaced by consumerism. , maintained the Prime Minister, the citizen must become a consumer who is not interested in politics.
He argued that if Europe is to be strong and “not to be subject to centralizing tyranny”, it should be a Europe of strong and sovereign states that cooperate perfectly with each other; he felt that they are not mutually exclusive values and phenomena. .
Prime Minister: The unit is the value of ZP; I see the great value of all our coalition partners
Morawiecki stressed that for him “unification is a great value”. He recalled the collapse of Saint Catherine’s Convent in the 1990s, which was a “drama of the Polish right, of the solidarity and patriotic camp”, and which unfolded across divisions. “Today we will not be divided,” he said.
“Today, the value of our camp (the united right) is also unity. The fact is that as a party, as US President Ronald Reagan said – “one big tent”, we reconcile different wings and see the value of all the coalition partners. I see the great value of all the coalition partners of the United Right. Right,” the prime minister said.
Morawiecki stressed that Republican values ”particularly close to each politician” are important to ZP. He added that the ZP combines both the Christian-democratic tendency and the tendency of strictly national values, strongly state-republican, but also solidary and ordoliberal.
The Prime Minister recalled the old Liberal slogan “live and let live”, noting that it is now turning into an antithesis.
“Today, on the lips of contemporary neoliberals, it turns into – ‘live and don’t let others live’ – as they please, just order them to live by a canon, the liberal, usually left-wing canon – and we do not have permission for this” – said the head of government.
Morawiecki pointed out that a group of European conservatives and reformers faces a big challenge today. “It is a reconstruction of republican values in the spirit of respect for sovereignty, national identity and respect for tradition,” he said.
“Europe must control relations with its non-democratic neighbours”
Morawiecki stressed that the United States is an indispensable partner of the European Union. “If we are to face the geopolitical challenges we are already experiencing today, just beyond our eastern border, we must ensure the coherence of the transatlantic Alliance,” he noted.
“The Europe of our dreams is also a Europe which controls – let us say it delicately – relations with its non-democratic neighbours, and above all those who are bent on rebuilding imperialism. First with neighbors like Russia, but Europe must also control its future in the face of other major economic arrangements,” Morawiecki stressed.
“Europe cannot behave like a capitalist who, as Lenin said, is going to sell a rope to which they – i.e. the communists – are going to hang them – i.e. us: capitalists, democrats, republicans -“, added the head of government.
According to the Prime Minister, Europe must be careful to whom it sells which technologies. As he recalled, Europe, being “at the top of the world technological ladder”, cannot get rid of it and must ensure that it maintains a competitive advantage.
“Only through this can we continue to live, controlling our own destiny in the future, and not, like today, fighting these challenges, with this gauntlet thrown down by Imperial Russia, thrown down as well , today it is very clear, by the Middle Kingdom, by China ” – He said.
Bielan: Poland as a reliable link in the European economy and an important partner in political cooperation
For his part, the leader of the Republican Party, Adam Bielan, underlined that “Poland is a reliable link in the European economy, a predictable ally and an important partner in political cooperation”.
“Despite the difficulties posed to our country by the European Commission, the vast majority of our compatriots believe that Poland in the Union is a stronger, richer and safer Poland,” Bielan said.
“We Republicans want a strong and active Poland in the EU, but we are also Eurorealists. You can see how much this organization has changed in recent years under the pressure of the national aspirations of several countries of the so-called old Union .only the strongest, ”said the leader of the Republican Party.
We, he added, “are also strong”. “As European conservatives and reformers, we have a quarter of the votes in the European Council, being the second European party in this body”, underlined the politician. “The countries in which we govern are more than one hundred million citizens of the Union. Together we have enormous potential and representation without which it is impossible to reform the European Union” – added Bielan.
“We want to strengthen Poland’s position and rightful place in the European Union, which is why the main objective of our European policy will be to maintain the principle of unanimity when introducing any changes to the treaties “said the leader of the Republican Party. (PORRIDGE)
