Poland is perceived by investors as a safe country

Poland is perceived as a safe country; there is a willingness among investors to commit financial resources, especially in areas such as green transformation – Finance Minister Magdalena Rzeczkowska said at the IMF-World Bank meeting.

Rzeczkowska told reporters on Thursday that at this year’s meeting of governors of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank in Washington, discussions are focused on the most important topics related to global development and the challenges of the economy and financial markets.

As the head of the Ministry of Finance pointed out, the biggest challenge now is the war in Ukraine and its influence, among other things, on energy issues. Later, she also pointed to the high inflation in many countries of the world, which – as she pointed out – in Europe reaches double-digit levels, and in the euro zone it is the highest in its history.

Minister Rzeczkowska added that climate change is an important element of global security.

“We talked about the role of finance ministers in stopping climate change and financing the green transformation. Poland is a leader in this – we were the first country to issue green treasury bonds in 2016. Poland has implemented tax solutions that encourage green transformation, such as the relief of thermo-modernization “- she pointed out. “As a country, we are doing a lot and the energy, green and climate transformation is a very important element” – she assessed.

According to Magdalena Rzeczkowska, at the meeting of the IMF and the World Bank, the theme of solidarity between the countries of the world and help, among other things, for Ukraine.

“I told how we help refugees, how they integrate into society, about military aid and Polish involvement in Ukraine,” the finance minister said. She stressed that in the context of international financial assistance, the coordination of the activities of many institutions is “particularly important”. She stressed the need to think about both short-term and long-term aid.

According to Rzeczkowska, macro-financial assistance “will give Ukraine the opportunity to ensure stability at the most difficult moment of the war, but also what awaits us. That is, reconstruction, modernization, reconstruction” – she underlined, adding that she had discussed with the Minister of Finance of Ukraine further cooperation and assistance.

This year’s meeting of the governors of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington began on Monday and will last until Sunday. As the Ministry of Finance informed on Thursday on Twitter, Magdalena Rzeczkowska met, among others, with Anne Bjerde, Vice President of the World Bank.
