For the ranking, the website also published brief information about each of the distinguished cheesecakes, including the ingredients needed to prepare it.
“Polish cheesecake comes from Christian and Jewish traditions. It is made from eggs, sugar and cottage cheese – a type of cheese used in desserts for hundreds of years. The cheesecake is believed to have been created in the 17th century, after the victory over the Turks at the Battle of Vienna, King Jan III Sobieski brought the recipe with him,” describes the TasteAtlas website.

As the website notes, there are many varieties of cheesecake these days, some baked, some not. Most often it is prepared on a layer of shortcrust pastry.
“Raisins, chocolate sauce or fruit are often added to the cheesecake, and one of the most popular dessert varieties has a sponge cake as a base and is covered with jelly and fruit on top,” points out the TasteAtlas website.
