Poor diet threatens the health of children around the world, UNICEF said in the report “The State of the World’s Children 2019: Children, Food and Nutrition” released on October 15.

The latest UNICEF report highlights alarming problems: malnutrition among the poorest children and overweight and obesity caused by unhealthy diets among children living in low- and middle-income countries. The problem of undernutrition or overweight affects more than 200 million children under the age of 5 worldwide.
The report’s authors highlight poverty, urbanization, climate change and poor dietary practices as causes of poor diets.
